With the decline in coronavirus cases across the United States, schools have started reopening. It was recently announced that my school will be reopening in the following month.
I was unsurprised when I heard this news, yet I had a lot of mixed emotions about this. This lockdown has helped me grow and develop in many ways that would not have otherwise been possible, however, reopening schools was an inevitability.
The first emotion I felt when I heard this news was excitement. At long last, I would be able to see my friends! This would mean the lockdown is ending, and I won't have to wear a mask every time I go out! However, I was quite surprised when I was hit with another emotion: apprehension. With online school lifted, teachers will probably stop holding back and double down on their students on homework and projects. Also, I'm an introvert, so I don't like to interact with people I don't know very well, and this quarantine gave me a good amount of space, but as life returns to normal, I will once again find myself having to brave the arduous task of talking to and interacting with people I don't know.
Thankfully, when my school reopens, there will only be two and a half months left in the school year, so after school ends, I can fully enjoy the benefits of no longer having to quarantine.
With schools reopening across California, it is certain that this quarantine is, at long last, coming to an end. I am sure many, many people will celebrate, but I am more reluctant to give up this blessing in disguise.
